SUMMARY:An Indigenous Peoples Day Gathering by We Think Dreams
DESCRIPTION:Join We Think Dreams for an Indigenous Peoples Day gathering centered on Native art\, traditional tea\, storytelling\, and cultural knowledge.\n\n\nTea brings us together. Art gives us something to see. Story gives us something to understand. Join We Think Dreams for an Indigenous Peoples Day gathering centered on Native art\, traditional tea\, storytelling\, cultural knowledge\, and connection. As a member of the Suquamish Tribe and an Indigenous art curator\, Denise Rubeck created this gathering as an opportunity to center Native voices\, contemporary Native creativity\, and the stories and relationships behind the work. Guests will have an opportunity to experience a showcase of contemporary Native art and handcrafted works\, enjoy traditional tea from Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co.\, and gather for conversation\, storytelling\, and cultural knowledge sharing. History Matters in This Space For generations\, the second Monday in October was recognized as Columbus Day\, a day that often centered a version of history that left Native peoples and our experiences out of the story. Indigenous Peoples Day offers an opportunity to broaden that story—to recognize the Native peoples\, Nations\, cultures\, histories\, and communities that have always been here and continue to shape our communities today. This gathering is not about erasing history. It is about making room for more of the history\, more of the voices\, and more of the stories. Tea\, Art & Story In many Native cultures\, art is more than something to look at. It can be a way of carrying knowledge\, remembering place\, honoring family and community\, and telling stories across generations. The art showcase will feature works by contemporary Native artists and makers\, including sculptures\, original artwork\, carvings\, and other handcrafted works. Guests will also have an opportunity to experience traditional tea from Raven & Hummingbird Tea Co.\, an Indigenous-owned tea company. Tea gives us a reason to slow down\, gather\, and share space. Throughout the afternoon\, we will create room for conversation\, connection\, and storytelling alongside the art. Honoring Cultural Knowledge & Relationships At We Think Dreams\, we believe Native art is inseparable from the relationships\, knowledge\, places\, families\, communities\, and stories from which it comes. This gathering is rooted in honoring cultural knowledge and relationships while creating space for Native artists and makers to share their work and stories. Come with curiosity. Come ready to listen. Come experience the richness of contemporary Native creativity. Come Gather With Us This Indigenous Peoples Day\, We Think Dreams invites you to slow down\, share a cup of tea\, experience Native art\, listen to stories\, and connect with the people and creative practices behind the work. Tea brings us together. Art gives us something to see. Story gives us something to understand. Leave with a deeper connection to Native creativity. Free to attend. RSVP requested. ~ We Think Dreams ~ Native Art • Culture • Story • Connection

SUMMARY:Here to Stay: Conversaciones
DESCRIPTION:A bilingual community conversation exploring food as memory\, identity\, migration\, and connection to our roots—featuring local chefs and food\n\n\nJoin VozEs Expresión Cultural for Nuestros Sabores\, a special edition of Here to Stay: Conversaciones\, exploring food as a connection to our roots and as part of the immigrant experience. \nThrough an intimate\, organic\, and bilingual conversation\, local chefs and food entrepreneurs will share the dishes\, ingredients\, traditions\, and memories they have carried from their places of origin—and how those traditions have found new ways to live\, evolve\, and create community after migration. \nBut we don’t want to only talk about food. We want to share it. \nEach of our panelists will bring a small bite or tasting connected to their culture\, personal history\, or culinary tradition\, giving attendees an opportunity to experience some of the flavors behind the stories shared that evening. \nThe conversation will flow naturally between English and Spanish\, with each participant encouraged to speak in the language in which they feel most comfortable. Rather than a formal presentation\, the evening is designed as a genuine exchange between our guests and the community. \nThe conversation will be recorded and later released as an episode of the Here to Stay: Conversaciones podcast\, extending these stories beyond the room and making them accessible to a wider audience. \nCome share the table with us—to listen\, taste\, remember\, and discover the stories that connect us. \nWe will also have a special presentation by El Alma de la Luna.

SUMMARY:Tenera Manus: Opening Reception
DESCRIPTION:Opening Reception for the exhibition\, Tenera Manus.\n\n\nTenera Manus (Latin for “tender hand”) centers on repetitive\, care-intensive \nprocesses such as sewing\, quilting\, tufting\, and diamond painting. Each artist uses slow\, \nmethodical techniques to transform familiar materials and images into contemporary reflections \non memory\, technology\, and transformation. The works pulse with nostalgia\, echoing the \ntextures of vintage textiles and the rhythms of handwork that hold both care and history.
