On View: Diasporic Dream/Landing

This show offers space to explore sacred entry points into ancestral histories and the Afro-future. The exhibition will be a consideration of the link between pre-diasporic hidden histories and an uncharted futurity through the lens of ancestral reverence and Afrofuturist imaginings.  The work that will be on display also examines these concepts in relationship to the body, memory, diasporic traditions, networks of communication, and the Earth and its cosmic address. This exhibition speaks specifically to the African and Black Diaspora, with all of the artists identifying as African, African-American, and/or Afro-Latinx. There are approx. ten artists exhibiting, all working in various media (painting, drawing, film, animation, installation, and collage) most are Charlotte-based, but some reside in New York, Atlanta, and Phoenix.
