MEGAN PAYNE
Collective Artist
September 2015
Megan Payne is a movement artist living in Charlotte, NC. She received a MFA in Dance from Hollins University in partnership with the American Dance Festival and a BFA in Dance from Ohio University. Her choreography has been presented throughout the Unites States, including performances at the American College Dance Festival, The American Dance Festival, and The Detroit Dance Festival. Her work approaches movement collaboratively, and as exploratory research to gain a better perception of the world we live in. As a choreographer she is interested in how our bodies hold memories that influence our perspectives of felt experience. She sees movement created as a way to manifest new forms or ways of being, reaching for a deeper understanding of our bodies, and their limitations and complexities. Megan is currently a guest artist in the Dance Department at UNCC and setting work for the Tobacco Road Dance Productions 2019 season (Durham, NC).
